Attended day surgery unit for operation but had forgotten my letter. I told the person at reception I had an appointment, and was was just about to explain about forgetting my letter, when they rudely interrupted me by shouting the word name at me. I thought they meant my name so gave them that. They looked at me as if I was stupid and asked me who I was there to see and said there were a lot of patient names on the list. It felt like they couldn't be bothered searching for my name. Fortunately I remembered the doctors first name and they found my file right on the top of a pile behind the desk. I was then handed a Covid declaration and told to fill it out. I then apparently made my second faux pas by attempting to sit in the wrong seating area, and they shouted loudly from behind the reception not to sit there unless I waned an endoscopy.
I had been there for 2 hours for a procedure that was a bit daunting, so was already tired and apprehensive. Had this not been the case, I would have asked to see their supervisor and make a complaint there and then as I was completely taken aback by their behaviour.
The fact that every other staff member I came into contact with that day were professional, courteous, and all round wonderful human beings, made this person's behaviour stand out even more and makes me angry even now.
"Rude staff member"
