I was sent to A&E in December after visit to GP.
It was a stressful time as my life changed forever that day. I arrived at reception and was then triaged through a window. I personally found this experience added to the stress and anxiety of an already stressful and unexpected situation. In turn I felt this had negative impact on my observations. I was lucky in the fact that the waiting room wasn’t overly busy since there was no choice of privacy and respect.
I appreciate A&E has been incredibly busy and staff are under immense pressure but being triaged through a window has left a very negative view on my whole experience. It’s a simple thing that can make a difficult and stressful situation even more stressful. Privacy and dignity is a simple thing to hope for. I appreciate just how busy the department has been and how it’s impacted staff and space. It’s just a very negative way to start experience and impacts the whole experience. hopefully this can be looked at for future patients to improve their experience.
