After the nurses stopped coming out was nice to know the virtual ward was there. Everyone i spoke to was lovely and reassuring. The only issue was that my parents found it confusing. They viewed the extra input as meaning there must be something seriously wrong with them. This was compounded by dad's deafness. What might have been helpful was a timeline explaining why and when the virtual ward takes over. Something visual would be good , perhaps in the red file so my parents could understand the steps taken to ensure they were recovering well. I think it's an excellent idea to support people to look out for any warning signs, however we had so much conflicting advice about the oxi meter (not from the virtual ward) but from paramedics who advised against them.
Thanks for all your hard work. All in all i think the virtual ward is an excellent idea, just maybe need to clarify to elderly people (to whom virtual means something completely different) why it's there and what it does.
