My baby was born with congenital hypothyroidism and should be seen at a maximum of 6 monthly to repeat bloods and check on medication being at the correct level. Unfortunately so far they have never been seen in the correct time frame. My child has failed to gain weight for the last 5 months and are no longer on the centile charts at all. My partner has tried to reach the consultant many times via phones and emails explaining the situation and begging for advice but has been ignored. The hospital is aware of the poor weight and moving off the centile chats as they have been the ones weighing them! This month my child’s appointment has once again been cancelled and moved to another 6 months away meaning their condition will have been unchecked for over a year. Which I have been advised by an endocrine specialist is dangerous especially for them as an infant and can have repercussions for physical growth and brain development. Very dangerous practice and placing child at significant risk of harm.
