"Access to disabled bays"

About: Portadown Health Centre

(as the patient),

I've been to Portadown Health Clinic as I had an appointment in the treatment room. I arrived 5 mins before my appointment time and all the disabled bays were taken and I had to park at the top.

I need to open my car door fully to get out of the car due to a spine and shoulder issue, some people can open the car door slightly and squeeze out - I can't do that!.

Out of the 6 or 7 disabled parking bays, 5 of the cars either had people sat in the cars and 5 did not have a blue badge displayed.

This happens every time I attend this clinic. In my view, it needs someone patrolling, checking and issuing fines, I think it's the only way to avoid this happening.

Dear bbbb66 - thank you for posting this feedback and apologies for the delay in responding to you. We are sorry to read that the parking issue is causing you so much inconvenience. I am the Care Opinion Facilitator for the Trust and I have shared your comments with the Facility Manager for Portadown Health Centre, who has advised that unfortunately this is an ongoing issue with regards to people parking in disabled spaces without a blue badge.

She would would advise that you let main reception know if this happens again she can arrange for someone to go to check the car park, The manager will also ask support services to advise caretaker of the building to carry out a spot check the car park daily.

With best wishes

Christine
