My story started in the year 2020 just as the pandemic started. I was diagnosed with 2 different cancers one in my right lung and the other in my bowel which the consultant said was very unusual to have 2 at the one time and also 2 different cancers. My pathway was to have the lung operated on first then the bowel but after several tests it was decided to operate on the bowel first which in the end, 4 tumours, a large lump, and all my lymph nodes were removed and the consultant told me were all clear. My bowel operation was at the Royal Victoria Hospital. I neither needed chemotherapy or radiation to my relief although I had trouble healing and was in and out of theatre 3 times with the results I lost my voice to which they said would eventually come back but 3 years later hasn't.
But its a small price to pay for being cancer free. My voice comes and goes. I ended up on a vax machine which does its job well...but I was in bed from May 2020 to September and once healed and on my feet the next month of October seen me having a month of radiation on my lung which also has been successfully treated. It is on going being monitored and appointments.
I have had the best treatment from the start and couldn't praise the hospitals, consultants, nurses and doctors, and all hospital staff enough for their care.
I would also like to mention Action Cancer for their ongoing care and my own GP.
"The best treatment from the start"
