"Struggling to access support"

About: Children's Specialist Health Services / Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was referred to community paediatricians for suspected ASD & ADHD in April 2019. He was seen by paeds in April 2021 who confirmed he did indeed have a social communication disorder but could not give a specific diagnosis.  He was referred on to the neurodevelopmental pathway for help and diagnosis. Here we are now 2 years later and absolutely no further forward.

He is struggling at mainstream school after having a request for assistance rejected twice. Neurodevelopmental have been contacted by the School for help and all we are being told is they are working on cases referred to them in 2019! We were told by peads we would be seen quicker as it is now one team and that we would be seen based on our original referral date to them, however this is not the case and my son is being totally disregarded and left to struggle.

It's a bit ridiculous being passed from pillar to post and having to beg for help that never materialises.
