Covid! Whilst I had a dependency on red wine, covid meant there was no reason to go into the office, you could hide from Teams at home - and my dependence got worse, and worse. 

My partner begged me to do something - I contacted ORB. Their initial route to treatement was to cut down - my mind doesn't work like that! They suggested, pour some away! Yeah I'd get to the end of the evening and go down the shop and buy more!

2nd attempt with ORB and a "detox" was mentioned... game on!

In December of my 2nd year with ORB, finally offered a detox - 20th December until 28th - yep Christmas! My partner wasn't sure - but I said maybe that's part of the test, do I / we really want this - I took it! Best decision ever!

I am 10 weeks+ alcohol free! Moved house, and area and no longer in touch with ORB - unfortunately services in the new county said not much they can do - yet I am looking forward to 20th March 2023 - 3 months into my recovery!

The staff from ORB and my fellow colleagues on teams weekly - I thank you for your help and support!

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback Richard02. Your honesty has really struck me, the impact COVID has had and is having on so many people is still very real and relevant.

How you viewed the detox as a test: being there over Christmas evidences how clearly you wanted to be alcohol free. Now being 10+ weeks alcohol free and moving towards being 3 months in recovery on 20/03/2023, again evidences your motivation and will to overcome and move forwards.
