"End of life care with dignity"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Cardiology (Wards 19, 24, 43a, 43b & 44a) Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Palliative care

(as a relative),

My wee Ma (in her nineties) transferred from Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) A&E to Ward 44 GRI. End of life care.

All staff were a credit to their profession. We were all looked after and nothing was a bother. Despite the ward being busy we were looked in on regularly to see if we needed anything or just to check we were okay.

The time just flew by when visiting as it was such a relaxing environment and atmosphere. All the staff introduced themselves (sorry I can't remember everyone's name) and were so gentle and caring towards Ma.

Everyone made sure she was clean, comfortable and settled and had her wee rosary beads on. Her room was always fresh and clean.

Thank you all so much and sorry for making you listen to Daniel O'Donnell and my bad singing the past couple of mornings.

You treated her with dignity, compassion and respect despite only meeting her a few days ago and for that I thank you.

Dear AK68

I'm extremely thankful for you taking the time to leave us your feedback on Care Opinion.

I was sorry to hear about the passing of your 'Wee Ma' after being admitted to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary through the A&E Department.

I was happy to hear the staff took the time to introduce themselves and make sure you were all comfortable when you visited. It was lovely to hear you found the ward to be a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. We are extremely proud of the work the department does so to hear this echoed was very comforting.

I know the simple things can mean so much in our time of need so I was pleased someone made sure she always had her wee rosary beads on and she was treated with dignity and respect throughout her stay.

I'm sure your singing wasn't too bad. (honest)

Please take care and thanks again this really means a lot to the staff.

Kind regards

Kevin
