"AAU waiting time"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Acute assessment unit

(as a relative),

We arrived at AAU at 1:30. It is now after 6:00. My wife was referred by the GP who had a concern about a stroke. She has finally gone for a CT scan. We have been stuck in a waiting room till now. It has an infuriating beeper that I assume to be an unanswered telephone.

A nice lady who volunteers made us a cup of tea but it appears that there are no free beds if my wife needed to be admitted. Some people have been here longer than us. This is a terrible waste of peoples time. We feel tired, bored and undervalued.

Dear andromedagf49

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch to highlight your recent experience in the acute assessment unit. Reading your story I can hear how frustrating and upsetting this must have been for you and your wife. I would like pass on my most sincere apologies.

I will share the lovely comments you have shared in your story with the volunteering team, I am sure they will be delighted to hear them.

I was wondering if I could ask you you to get in touch with me, as I would like to look further into what happened during your time within the acute assessment unit. You can contact me on 01324 567472 or pamela.scott@nhs.scot

I look forward to hearing from you, and hope your wife is making a good recovery.

Best wishes Pamela
