"Not happy about the stay"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / General Medicine (2 south)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I recently suffered a stroke. I was put in a double side room where 3 patients are squeezed in to the same room.

Nonetheless, staff is fantastic, they treat me well and I get all of my medication on time. Staff is generally helpful but they are very slow to cater for any request that I may have.

Food is questionable to say the least, and there is only one remote for an entire ward. We are not able to change channels on the TV, or adjust the volume.

Temperature is okay I would prefer it to be a a little colder but Im aware this is purely personal preference and other patients may disagree.

Ventilation in the room is very poor, rooms are stuffy and we have no air condition.

Hello Domxz48,

I am sorry to hear about your ill health. Unfortunately, due to the demand for beds within the hospital extra bed spaces are being made. Unfortunately, these are often in areas which are less than idle with little space. I will escalate this to the appropriate staff. I am sorry that you feel staff are slow to response to requests, I will highlight this to staff and hope that requests get answered soon.

I wish you well of your recovery

Nicole

Morning,

Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedbac. I'm sorry to hear that you have been unwell and hope that you are back home soon.

I am very sorry to hear of your experience in 2 South, as you say the staff are fantastic and are working in very difficult circumstances. The whole Team recognise that this is not the best way to care for Patients and each day we try to avoid situations like this, however due to the current pressures on the system this is proving hard.

If you would like to discuss anything please don't hesitate in contacting me james.gilpin@southerntrust.hscni.net.

May I take this opportunity to wish you well in your recovery,

James
