"I was supported at every level"

About: Ealing IAPT

(as the patient),

CBT is certainly the way to go to help manage long Covid. Initially I was very nervous of starting CBT given my self esteem was so low. I worked with Thomas every week who helped me develop a schedule and to pace myself.

Long Covid completely disrupted my life & isolated me at a time I was  also dealing with major trauma & bereavement. I couldn't care for myself or get out of bed easily. I literally did not want to exist. In months I have gone from giving up to wanting to build a life I can start to feel secure in again.

I really valued the sessions which I had by phone  and completely committed myself to the process. I have seen my long Covid improve & have a new found confidence to pace my life & anxiety. Even though I have a lot to overcome in the future CBT has saved me.  I felt supported & encouraged.

Thomas worked around my hectic work schedule to make the sessions manageable for me even when I had to change appointments at short notice due to work commitments. He encouraged and was compassionate and very motivating. I was treated with care and dignity on all levels.

So proud of myself. I open the curtains in my house everyday and walk a little taller. Mental wellbeing is so important & I will continue to be committed to my CBT schedule. Even though my sessions have now ended. It was so brilliantly organised and communication excellent throughout. Can't praise the service enough.

I also worked with Laura in my very first round of CBT. She helped me establish a safety plan and my first steps to better mental wellbeing. Laura was great too. The handover to a new therapist for my second round of CBT was handled very well too and I was supported at every level.

Thankyou.
