My son trapped his thumb in the car door, as it bruised and swelled up very quickly I headed straight to A&E at FVRH with him. We were triaged within 20 minutes and he was given pain killers, the nurse was really nice and offered to make an appointment at the local Minor Injuries dept in Stirling.
We had an appointment 45 mins later, on arrival we waited about 5 mins and were seen by a nurse called Gary who sent my son for an x-ray. We were back in seeing him within about 10 minutes, he advised the thumb wasn't broken but to keep an eye on it in case it turned red. One week on I noticed it was turning a little red so called NHS 24 and was given a further appointment back in Minor Injuries.
On arrival we were taken very quickly, and again it was the nurse Gary who was so nice and put my son at ease, he kept him informed of what he was doing every step of the way as he could see he was a little anxious. Gary advised he would need to pop the nail to let the pressure out. My son let him do this and he had relief within minutes.
I honestly can't thank the full service enough from start to finish. Everything ran smoothly and the most important part was my son was never frightened as was told everything that was going on. Thank you all !
