"Poor appointment booking system"

About: Guide Bridge Medical Practice

(as a service user),

I haven't actually seen a GP here since 2018ish. I managed to have one telephone consultation with a GP, not really suitable; a telephone consultation doesn't offer the same engagement as an 'in-person' appointment. Of course, when covid was rife, telephone consultations, were an unavoidable consequence, but using covid (still) as a reason, not to revert back to the old appointment system, I feel is unacceptable.

The ring at 8:00am tomorrow syndrome is the stock situation now which I find shockingly bad. I've had to visit the practice twice in the last few months, to see the nurse, and there wasn't one person waiting to be seen by any GPs. I asked the receptionist, there and then, if I could make an appointment to see my GP, and even though I was there, in-person, the answer was no and to ring back the following morning at 8:00am.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems booking appointments at the practice. Your feedback is very important to us and we are always disappointed when things don't go well. I would like to take the opportunity to explain that almost all appointments at the practice are booked according to patient preference and if you wish to see your clinician face to face you are very welcome to do so. If you would like us to look into the concerns you have raised, please contact me on 0161 344 2609 or alternatively contact our Governance team on 0161 337 2254/gtd.governance@nhs.net

Kind Regards

*UPDATE*

So I downloaded the NHS/MyGP app, and low and behold, I was able to book a face-to-face appointment with a GP. Due to the pandemic, haven't seen a doctor for about 3+ years, despite having various ongoing health problems and 4 new medical issues to report.

Feeling positive, I went for my appointment yesterday, it was with a doctor I haven't seen before. I entered the doctor's room, sat down, and told the doctor, having not been for a few years, I have 4/5 medical problems I want to report; (the waiting room was totally empty). Showing no concern whatsoever, the immediate response was that they were sorry, but it was one problem per appointment!

I was on the verge of just walking out to be honest. I replied back that I'd just make four more appointments then. Lucky me, I had managed to mention 2 out of the 5. Checking out other reviews doesn't make for a pleasant read, clearly, something is systemically wrong, post-pandemic.
