My 3-year-old had been sick for a few days and I took her to Children's ED early in the morning. It was just us and another family, so we were triaged very quickly. The triage nurse, Eimear, was very nice with my daughter and put her at ease.
Dr Mohammed assessed my daughter afterwards. He listened to my concerns and was very kind to my daughter. We had to wait a bit for the test, and afterwards Dr Mohammed explained what could be the possible causes, the test required and took time to answer my questions.
As my daughter was well enough, he said that we could go home and he would call me when her blood results came back. I thought that if results were fine he might not ring me and I would have to follow it up with my GP, but before 4 pm I got a phone call to let me know results where fine and possible reason for her symptoms.
Special shoutout to Orlaith, the play therapist, who must have heard my daughter asking to go home after assessment and she came to talk to her and brought her some toys to play while waiting, which made her day!
We want to say thank you to all staff at RVH Children's ED for not only giving us excellent medical care, but for making children and parents' hospital experience a positive one.
"Excellent care"
