I have been involved with the team of asthma nurses based within Wishaw general hospital for the last 3 years in particular Lorraine and more recently Mhairi Clair! To say they are my life line would be an understatement. Although I have open access to ward 19 the service that these nurses provide a service that to me is invaluable!
My young son has asthma but it not just as simple as asthma and we are still on a journey of investigation and things can be very rough but these nurses are always there to help and to reassure me and give me copious amounts of advice and help! They always put me at ease and are a great support to me! They take time to talk and they always get back to me when they say they will! They always do follow ups and check in with me to see how my son is when we have had a rough spot.
Only recently over the Christmas period Mhairi Clair checked in with me and arranged a few appointments as she wasn’t happy with what was happening with him! I feel she always values me as a mum and actually listens to me! I will always be eternally grateful for this service and these girls need to be recognised for this amazing work that they do!
