I had gout over new year period, then ended on hospital for a couple of days with unrelated problem. The hospital staff were amazing and out of hours who I attended before being sent to hospital were also amazing. I still had bit of a sore toe (not the one affected by the gout) even though it looked like the gout was clearing up. By Friday evening the toe looked red, on Saturday swelling began and by night-time I was in agony.
Called NHS 24 Sunday got and appointment at 12:30 Queen Margaret. I wish I had decided to just suffer. I was told by the nurse that it wasn't a GP service - it was for people who might need to go to hospital. The manner I was spoken to has left me feeling I'm a nuisance and shouldn't ever bother them again.
I have informed my family that unless I'm unconscious I will not attend the Queen Margaret ever again. I'd rather suffer than be belittled again by someone who is meant to be in the caring profession . The nurse showed no empathy at all towards me. I have dealt with the NHS on many occasions especially being a cancer survivor and I can honestly say they were the worst health employee I have ever dealt with.
