"It's clear that the Doctor is passionate about his role"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire Lanarkshire Community Services / GP Out of Hours service NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service)

(as a service user),

The NHS receives a lot of criticism so I thought I would share a negative and positive experience.

Negative - My own GP Practice had no face to face appointments or telephone consultations left when I called in the afternoon, resulting in me having to call NHS 24 later that day.

Positive - The call handler & nurse at NHS 24 were lovely, I received a quick triage and my record was sent to my local GP OOH Service.

I was seen by Dr Adams at OOH who was very caring. He was keen to get to the bottom of my symptoms & most of all he just really listened! The Dr was able to access my previous history and could give me a clear diagnosis. Most importantly he took the time to explain the cause of my symptoms and used an image which gave me an insight into what was happening inside my body with helpful information to consider for the future in the event my condition gets worse.

It was clear Dr Adams is passionate about his role and happy to be at his work helping patients!

Dear Anony123

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion. I'm sorry you required to attend at the Out of Hours Service and hope you are doing much better. Dr Adams sounds as though he did a fantastic job in taking the time to listen and reassure you. Being listened too is hugely important and makes such a difference. It's also great that you have information in relation to what to look out for should your symptoms change. That in itself is reassuring.

Thanks also for your very kind comments about our staff here at NHS 24. It would be great to share your comments with them directly. You can call me on 07814 299944 or email Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

I hope to hear from you further.

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Shona

Dear Anony123,

I am sorry to hear you were unable to get a same day appointment at your local GP practice, but I am please to hear of the positive experience you had with Dr Adams at out of hours.

It can be a worrying time attending out of hours, I am delighted our friendly doctor put you at ease. Your positive feedback and thanks will give them a much needed boost and I will be sure to feed this back to them.

I hope you are recovering well.

Kind regards,

Jenni
