Our second daughter was born at Worcester Royal in late June 2013 and we wanted to write to you to express our gratitude for the way in which we were treated and supported through what proved to be a very difficult and challenging time.
In the weeks leading up to my due date, I had cause to visit Triage for monitoring. The staff managed to set us at ease on each visit and their care, attention to detail and good humour never failed to reassure us and raise a smile.
Following my induction and a difficult labour, I was eventually taken to theatre for an emergency caesarean section. Once again the staff were incredibly supportive and they worked hard to keep us calm and reassured. Unfortunately we do not remember all of their names but we will not forget their positivity and thoughtfulness despite the difficult circumstances.
All of the staff on the postnatal ward were professional and friendly and treated us as individuals ensuring that we were well informed and able to make our own decisions about treatment. Whilst I was happy to take our baby home, I did feel very emotional saying goodbye to all of the people who looked after us.
Unfortunately our daughter had to be readmitted to hospital several days later as a result of severe jaundice and she remained on the neonatal intensive care unit for three days. As I am sure you will appreciate, this was an incredibly stressful and worrying time for our family and I don’t know how we would have coped had it not been for the incredible staff that looked after us. They kept us well informed and their kindness and professionalism is a credit to the hospital.
It would be easy for us to look back on the last few weeks as an unpleasant and traumatic time but the staff at the hospital helped us to make the best out of difficult situation and they gave our daughter the best possible start.
