"Friendly and caring staff"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Acute Receiving Unit (Units 1-5)

(as a relative),

My mother had a fall down stairs at home. She had injured her top lip in 3 places. Our local A&E department was unable to repair her mouth and referred us to the A&E unit at QEU hospital Glasgow to see the maxofaciall consultant.

I can't fault the care my mother was given at this hospital. All the staff were friendly and caring even though it was a busy Friday afternoon/ evening.

After having her lip stitched up my mother was admitted to ARU 5 as she was showing signs of a UTI and confusion.

She was allowed home after a 2 night stay on this ward.

I was fully informed by staff of her condition and progress throughout this time.

She was very grateful to all the staff she encountered and praised the nurses on the ward.

After all the negative publicity regarding the NHS at the moment I felt that this hospital should be applauded in the work they do in these difficult times.

The only criticism I would have is the signage in the hospital directing to departments but I'm aware there is still work going on.

Dear Pats1950

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback on Care Opinion.

I was sorry to hear your mum had to attend the A&E & ARU Department of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after her fall. You must have been worried sick.

I was delighted to hear the care and treatment your mum received from our staff was of a high standard and you found everyone you came across to be friendly and caring.

I have passed on your thanks to the staff within both departments who have asked me to thank you for your kind words. This really means a lot to the staff.

Thank you for highlighting the issue of signage around the hospital. This is something we are aware of and is being reviewed at the moment.

I hope your mum's feeling a lot better now and recovering well back at home.

Kind regards

Kevin

Dear Pats1950

Thank you for providing such lovely feedback.

I am very pleased to read that your mother and you were provided with the high standard of patient centred care which we always strive to achieve.

Thank you also for your comment regarding signage which I will follow up on. I will also ensure that your lovely feedback is passed on to the teams who took care of your mother.

I hope your mother is now recovering, please give her our best wishes.

Linda
