"My little boy"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services / GP Out of Hours service

(as a parent/guardian),

My son is 1.5 years old and had been unwell for around 3 weeks, he had been given 2 lots of different antibiotics over that period of time and his symptoms weren't getting any better so I called 111 who were amazing and they got me an appointment at  out of hours and was seen and treated with so much care and respect. In all honesty I though I was going to be sent home saying its viral but the doctor wasn't liking my sons symptoms and instead sent us to Wishaw General and had to be admitted again the care here has been amazing so I just want to thank everyone for listening to my concerns , looking after my son and making sure he is getting the right treatment and care and for all your hard hard work especially under the pressure the NHS are in just now ! My son is thankfully improving and hopefully getting home tomorrow.

Dear snowjf45

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion.

I am sorry to hear your son had been unwell for a few weeks, this must have been a worrying time for you. I am pleased to hear you felt listened to by all, especially the doctor assessing your son. I will be more than happy to pass on your thanks and kind words to the staff.

I hope your son gets home tomorrow, and is now on the mend.

Kind Regards, Karen

Dear snowjf45,
Thanks for getting in touch with us - we are so glad to hear your little boy is on the mend and we hope you all had a fantastic Christmas together.

Your feedback is really appreciated - as you say - at such a challenging time for staff and our services it's always lovely to hear positive news. I'll make sure the staff at Paediatric Wards 19 & 20 here at University Hospital Wishaw see your comments - I know they will be chuffed!

Take care and all the best for 2023.

Laura:-)
