I was admitted to the QEUH in November just before midnight, after attending the A&E department with what turned out to be a TIA (Mini stroke). I would like to say that the treatment I received from every single member of staff was absolutely fantastic and I could not have received better treatment anywhere.
I was seen by the triage nurse within 15 minutes (so the red, amber, green system is working) and she was so efficient and acted so quickly, that I was seen by a consultant within minutes. She too was superb and ordered head and chest x-rays as well as an ECG and blood sample. As soon as they had the results, I was given a high dose of aspirin, and I’m convinced the prompt action of everyone involved prevented my situation from getting worse.
I was discharged on the Friday, having spent 1 night in ARU and the rest of the time in Ward 6B and received 2 further scans of my heart and brain. Every single member of staff who treated me, the Doctors, nurses, radiographers, ancillary staff, cleaners, porters, were all completely professional and courteous and did so with a smile on their face, even though I could see how busy they all were. I’m just sorry I can’t mention all of them by name.
I would like to mention Dr Cameron and his stroke team for all of the fantastic treatment I received. Also thanks to Dr Shah for explaining all of the treatment so clearly to me. Thanks to Staff Nurse Andrea who looked after me so well and worked tirelessly in ward 6B. Thanks also to Elizabeth who got me to take part in Precise Clinical Trial and explained everything involved in great detail.
I am so grateful to every single member of staff who looked after me throughout my stay, I cannot thank them enough.
