"RCH - hysteroscopy"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

It is never good to have such a procedure and it was a shock to hear I needed one. Why? What is wrong? How embarrassing? Will it hurt?

Receptionist was distracted so I felt uneasy when I arrived as I had no idea where to go.

The waiting room was bare and uninviting

As soon as I saw the nurse, Sue part of Dr. Bishien’s team, I started to feel much more at ease. She was kind and so matter of fact!

Dr. Bishien too was calm and approachable but I did struggle to hear him through his mask.

The procedure was explained and every effort was made to help me relax.

I am still concerned as I couldn’t interprete the screen and have to wait for biopsy results.

Dear New2this

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for our service. I am very glad to hear that the team were approachable and able to put you at ease. Our teams work hard to try and minimise any worry or anxiety for their patients, and to make them feel as comfortable and informed as possible during such an invasive procedure, and they very much appreciate all feedback. I will ensure that your kind words are shared with the team.

I am sorry that you felt uneasy when you arrived and that you found the waiting room to be uninviting. I will ensure that these concerns are also shared with the team so that they can investigate whether there is anything that can be done to provide clearer direction, should the receptionist be unable to fully attend to new arrivals, and to see if there is anything that can be done to make the waiting room less bare. In addition, I will raise with them that you were unable to interpret the screen.

Thank you again and I hope that your biopsy results will be available for you very soon.
