I recently had surgery at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham. The staff there were all really professional and pleasant. They treated me with respect and involved me with decisions. My consultant was kind and helpful. He involved me in decision making and did not promise me things he could not guarantee.
I was on the waiting list for a long time and this was very frightening, I got in touch with the Medical Secretaries who were helpful.
I realise the waiting lists are not the hospital's fault as it is a national problem, they handled it very well. The staff are really upset that patients are having to wait so long with worsening symptoms.
A special shout out to HDU staff as I spent some time there post operation, Sister Clare on the spinal ward who is a tonic in herself and my fabulous Consultant and his team, Mr Knight.
"Treated with respect"
