"Person Centred Visiting"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU)

(as a relative),

I attended CAU within Crosshouse Hospital this morning to visit my 20-year-old daughter on my way to work. I arrived at 8 am, as I was starting work at 8.30. The nursing assistant on shift said visiting was 10 am - 8 pm (when I mentioned the new visiting hours) and it is protected meal times and therefore I couldn't visit. I was allowed to nip in with belongings and sit for 5 minutes.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We do ask that, wherever possible, family members try and avoid visiting patients at mealtimes, but appreciate that this is not always practically possible. Staff are encouraged to be as flexible as possible and to adopt a person-centred approach to the visiting times guidance.

If you would like to discuss this issue further, please feel free to either call me on 01563 826210 or email me, linda.russell7@aapct.scot.nhs.uk.

In the meantime, please pass on my good wishes to your daughter for her recovery.

With all best wishes,

Linda
