"Colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy"

I was required to have a colonoscopy and needed removal of polyps. Due to the lack of medical cover at Gartnavel Endoscopy Unit, on the day of my colonoscopy they could not remove the polyps at the same time. I subsequently had to undergo another invasive procedure (sigmoidoscopy) on a different occasion at the New Victoria Hospital.

This is an uncomfortable procedure with significant prep, which I had to endure twice due to lack of appropriate staffing at Gartnavel. It also meant I had to take more time of work which isn't ideal. I hope this can be looked at to prevent other patients having to go through unnecessary additional  procedures.

Having said this, I would like to thank the staff at both Gartnavel and the New Victoria hospitals for their care. All members of staff from admin to nursing and medical staff were welcoming and made me feel comfortable and at ease.
