"Waiting, and more waiting"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Anything else?

Having been in king George's A&E department for 4 hours, just to have a canular put in, my husband is then sent over to Queen's supposedly "urgent care" department. 2 hours later, and we're still waiting to even see someone, even though the orthopedics team have apparently been called. The service is absolutely rubbish. There isn't even anyone to register with when you come in to urgent care! There is one nurse who has to deal with registering people, dealing with patients and calling up relevant departments; someone needs to give her a pay rise! Will update when we actually get in. Best way to spend father's day. What's the point in contributing towards NHS when you can't get a service when you need one!

I’m sorry to hear about the delays your husband experienced in A&E. We try to see everyone within four hours. However, we treat people in order of clinical need, not time of arrival. For patients with less serious and urgent conditions, sometimes this means a longer wait. We are working hard to reduce waits for patients, particularly those needing most urgent treatment. We also encourage people wherever possible to speak to their GP or out-of-hours GP service before coming to the A&E department, which can help reduce waits for people who need urgent hospital treatment.
