"Emergency visit to A & E"

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

Anything else?

After hitting my head in an epileptic fit, my head & neck were braced by the ambulance men directly across the wound on my head & I was taken to A&E. Half an hour of waiting in pain that is getting worse by the minute, I am told they intend to take some blood tests. After two attempts the nurse decides to ask the Doctor to do it. Nurse vanishes to find Doctor & half an hour later I get whisked off to have some ex-rays done. Ex-ray department were excellent - clear on what they were doing and no wastage of time. Back to A&E and wait for the next episode! Doctor arrives to take some blood & he takes two attempts to get samples. Now I do feel like a pin cushion! Doctor decides the pain I am in needs treating, so rather than get rid of the cause - the brace - which is no longer needed, he decides to give me liquid Paracetamol through my vein! More needles!!! Then my nurse comes to introduce me to another nurse - she is going for lunch. Thankfully I asked & got a very unhealthy sandwich - white bread, salad & ham! Doctor comes back to re-do one of the blood tests. The blood had clotted before they tested it! This happened again with this test. I spent four and a half hours in a lot of pain mainly caused by the brace which they refused to remove for three and a half hours and the nurses and doctors in taking blood tests! I was released & told nothing was wrong!
