"Elderly step-mother: You were all wonderful to her"

About: Watford General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

My step-mother is Dutch. She lived in England for nearly 30 years but went back to the Netherlands a few years after my father died. Every year for the last 5 years she has come back to visit the family here. She took ill the day before she was supposed to visit me and family in Bedfordshire. She was admitted to the Acute Admissions and we went to see her every day the 4 days she was in. She was transferred to the White bay level 1 and I want to say she was treated with extreme kindness whilst she was in there. The nursing staff were lovely with her and she has a speech problem which makes things hard for communication. I just want to say on behalf of her and all the family a Big Thank You. You were all wonderful to her and all the other elderly ladies on that ward. It was clean and bright and staff always willing to have a chat. Again very impressed and thank you.

Hi Greitja, we're delighted to hear that your step-mother’s treatment and overall experience with us was just the way you - and her - should expect. It's always gratifying to hear first-hand accounts of how our hospital staff did all they could to professionally cater for your needs, particularly under her difficult circumstances. We will, of course, pass on your kind comments to the staff on the Acute Admissions Unit, who were involved in her care. We wish you both all the very best.
