I would like to say thank you for the care given to my mother during the week she spent in Durham University Hospital, prior to her death there on 10th April.
A number of family members visited her during this time and all of us appreciated the care she was given and the way that we too were cared for by the staff. As my mother was very afraid of being alone at night my sister was allowed to stay with her and was also well looked after by the night staff.
In particular we would like to say thank you to Dr Simon Patel and Staff Nurse Erick Hanson.
Dr Patel’s manner was such that my mother was very quickly able to ask him the questions that had been worrying her, and he explained things clearly and kindly to her and to my sister and me. He took time to listen to her and to make sure that she could follow his explanations. She was so much more at peace after she had seen him, and we were very grateful to him.
Staff Nurse Erick Hanson looked after all of us when my mother was moved to a side ward for her final hours. He treated my mother with respect and great compassion and care throughout this period, and his professionalism was outstanding. We could not have asked for better.
Please pass these comments on, with our grateful thanks.
"Excellent care for my 86 year old mother"
