I’m 88 and have nerve trouble. I phoned 111 at 4 am having difficulty passing water. Nobody answered.
Did eventually get through – at this point the person who answered asked me lots of questions, for 20 minutes, that were not relevant, if I had a stroke or had broken my leg – I just wanted to talk to a doctor.
After this they said they would send a doctor to see me in about an hour.
The doctor arrived, within an hour, and said I had an infection and prescribed some tablets for me. However they were the wrong dose and did not clear up the infection.
I had to go to my own GP a week later as I was still in pain, he saw what the 111 doctor has given me and doubled the dose. This cleared the infection.
All in all this was a rubbish service, they got it all wrong, and the service is too complicated for older people.
"they got it all wrong"
