Anything else?
I took my friend to A+E today and was very impressed with the efficiency and care given by all staff within the A+E unit. The site of her operation done 2 weeks ago in Chase Farm) had become inflamed and she was concerned. Reception was quick. Initial assessment happened almost immediately. The triage nurses then saw her and took detailed notes. Temperature and BP were taken. She was then taken through to a bed where a surgical doctor assessed her. She sought out a surgical consultant who was in theatre. He came and arranged IV antibiotics and a CT scan. She was taken for the scan then taken straight up to a ward to have in patient treatment. She even got an evening meal? All the staff were helpful, explained what was happening, cared and communicated. They were efficient and pleasant. From porters, to receptionists; nurses to doctors to consultants. Even the Friends tea stall gave great service and refreshments within the A+E unit. I know it wasn’t too busy while we were there. Nevertheless, a bit of empathy goes a long way.
"Excellent care in A+E"
