"Very confusing"

About: New Cross Hospital

Anything else?

I have been treat at New Cross several times this year for a chronic illness during the first 3 visits I was very impressed with both the staff and the treatment on the wards the nurses were friendly and as efficient as possible with the number of bed bound patients under their care. The doctors were helpful and polite and took the time to explain things to me as I was being diagnosed with a life long disease and then treated for flare ups. My only complaint for those visits was being left in AMU waiting area in a great deal of pain and vomitimg for 11 hrs in a chair but once in a bed treatment and test were quickly carried out despite it being near midnight. However my last visit has seriously affectedy trust in the treatment and the staff I was admitted for pain and voting again but with pain in a different location and a different type of pain however instead of treating me for the pain I was complaining they just assumed it was a flare up despite repeated attpts to explain tht it felt nothing like my flare ups I ended up being discharged after 6 days with no improvement and no explanation just told they needed the bed and to see how I went at home. I have been readmitted with the same symptoms after seeing my GP and the symptoms worsening and they are only now looking into other possible causes after over a month of constant severe pain and vomiting for me. I find it incredible that doctors who had previously been very helpful and considerate flatly refused to check for other causes despite several request for explanations and reasons for diagnosis. I also found that no one communicated every day I saw a new doctor who would disagree with the last and change my medication it got so confusing that the nurses ended up giving me the wrong doses of some things as the doctors hasn't written new instructions properly. After all of this stress and confusion when they did discharge me they lost my medication and discharge letter so I had to wait for 3 hrs in the discharge lounge this was after a 2 hr wait on the ward before they moved me to discharge. I was also discharged without any aftercare or follow up on the new medications which I know we're supposed to be checked with weekly blood tests which he doctor didn't give me the paperwork for so I have been unable to monitor the progress for my follow up appointment. I feel that my treatment on this occasion was very badly handled. I would however like to say that all of the nurses and auxiliaries that I met were friendly polite and helpful and did have to put up with verbal abuse from patients especially in AMU.
