About: Royal Oldham Hospital

Anything else?

I attended appointment at outpatients A,as per my appointment letter, after going to reception and asked to sign in on terminal,I waited over 30 minutes, I asked the receptionist if I was in the right department,to be told no ,I should be in Lucy Pugh Department, asking the way ,she wasn't sure , leaving the dept, I followed signs to Lucy Pugh, my wife who was with me, is disabled and cannot walk very far, struggled down 2 flights of stairs, to be told at the dept, we were late, on explaining the mistake I was put in a room and then seen by the doctor, on leaving the was no possibility of my wife climbing the stairs, so we asked and we were directed to a lift down a corridor, which took us to the outside, but we still had a steep slope to get up,to our car , a porter informed us that there was a lift in the main building which would take us up to the top level, we struggled to the lift, and on to the exit, and the car, My main complaint is that I and another couple were sent to the wrong dept,by the appointment system, also the total lack of access for disabled people to the dept, ,we have a scooter in the car but decided to leave it there after being told where outpatients A is to the entrance,by the telephone information service, as it was there was NO possibility of getting from the car park to Lucy Pugh with it, I understand there is building work being done, as I could see that had No impact on the access for people at all, I will in future as my GP ,not to send me back there and make my follow up appointment at a hospital that has better access ,EG, North Manchester,
