"Excessive waiting - Eye Casualty and Ophthalmology..."

About: Sutton Hospital

Anything else?

Over past two years I have have attended both Eye Casualty and the Ophthalmology clinic at Sutton Hospital for treatment of AMD. Although the medical treatment I have received has been first class the management of patients has been appalling. Waiting times are totally unreasonable. The administration team should look closely at teams providing treatment. The consultants are under too much pressure. Has the hospital never considered a much greater use of Optometrists to ease the burden in both the clinic and casualty? It would also help if patients were given individual appointment times rather than the present system whereby umpteen people are allocated exactly the same time.

We are glad you found the treatment you received at Sutton Hospital 'first class' but disappointed you found the patient management lacking. We are currently reviewing our clinics at Sutton and indeed looking to improve services there to make it more efficient for patients which will hopefully address the issues you raise. Thank you for your feedback. Dr James Marsh Joint Medical Director
