"The variation of care i recieved across three wards during a 3 and a half week stay at SGH"

About: NHS Southampton CCG

(as the patient),

During my 3 and a half week stay I got moved to 3 different wards as there was not a specialist ward for my injury.

During my stay the quality of nursing varied from ward to ward but by far the best in terms of practice, skills and more importantly making you feel like a human being not a number was ward D2.

There skill level was always incredibly professional and no corners were cut when going about their day to day duties.

Whilst I was in D2 I had not seen a doctor for 5 days which I felt was totally unacceptable, however the Sisters on duty took it upon themselves to do everything possible to contact a doctor and get the treatment I required. for this I cannot thank them enough! !

Sister Sonia is an exceptional nurse and I think she deserves special mention for her caring diligent and professional attitude to her patients welfare. I hope this accolade will be passed onto her and her team, I cant thank them enough.

Finally, having experienced this quality I was disappointed to see that this exceptional level of nursing was only evident in 1 ward D2, and that this level of practice and care was not the norm throughout the other wards I was on within SGH.
