"teenager/ almost an adult care"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital

Anything else?

After contacting the comedy 111 service which i would not recommend to anyone and will never use it again as long as it exist.( the way it going won't be long) i was ask for to bring my daughter in to visit the out of hours doctor. The doctor explained his finding and advised us to get further treatment not a problem. He did the paperwork and asked us to make our way to the ward. My daughter age 17,actual 18 in 5 weeks was send to the children s ward. The staff on here were really supportive and explained everything that was going to happen. My daughter ended up having her appendix out and the care and after care was excellent. Although at times the communication level with her was a little childish, really was the wording "i'm the sleepy doctor" right for age group antitheses would of been fine. she was in deed a little uncomfortable being placed on a children s ward as i 'm sure there should be better facilities for that really difficult age group or at least trying to arrange facilities that are more geared around them. overall the care was excellent within the hospital just a few tweaks needed.

Response from Musgrove Park Hospital

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to write to give praise to the staff who cared for your daughter during her recent treatment at Musgrove. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback such as yours and I thank you for your kind comments which I will pass on to the staff involved with your daughter's care. However, I also note your comments regarding the level of communication as your daughter attended a children's ward. I will pass your comments to Matron who will appreciate your feedback. If you would like to discuss this with me further please telephone me on 01823 344762. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in writing. Lucille Hoose. PALS Lead
