"I had my first child in november ..."

About: St Helier Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I had my first child in november 2006 and the maternity delivery suite was excellent, although I had a trainee midwife with me most of the time I was also attended to by a senior midwife, the care was excellent and I had privacy and this helped me keep calm. The staff did an excellent job as I had been i labour for over 24 hours.

I am due to have my second baby in march and although I am happy to go to St Helier for this baby, I will be doing things different in the maternity ward and I well definalty kick up a fuss if I am ignored this time, as the more polite you are the more trampled over you get.

But thanks to the midwives who looked after me in the labour unit......... I hope I am lucky to have you again this time around.

What could be improved

Unfortunatley the actual maternity ward was a nightmare, I was not paid any attention to and left to deal with this new baby all by myself, I felt alone, and isolated, and nobody even told me when or how I got access to meals !!!! I had to ask my family to stay with me as I did not feel comfertable leaving my baby alone whilst i went to get breakfast or have a shower.

Staff attitude..........if you are not happy working here go elsewhere and dont take it out on patients.
