"My mothers stay in hospital January 2013"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

Anything else?

My mother had to be rushed into hospital to have a small growth removed near the neck of her womb. She was bleeding from afternoon and I eventually persuaded her to go to hospital, she was very frightened to go to hospital. We were seen quickly and put in a private room in A&E. We were transferred to a same sex ward early morning. We were put into a very nice private room and the staff were very helpful, so polite and friendly and we were offered breakfast. I was not the patient but had been awake all night and helped my mum all night and was offered breakfast too, which was so very welcome as I was so tired and hungry but my mum was quite scared and did not want me to leave her. We were seen by a doctor and she had surgery the next day and transferred to a lovely small quiet ward with lots of staff always about to help if needed. My mum said she would not mind coming back into hospital again as it was a nice experience, even the food was very good. The only comment I would make is that if you are admitted into A&E with a Gynaecological problem, just wish a women doctor could do any initial examinations. My mum had to go back as an outpatient a couple of weeks after being discharged and in the reception saw one of the nurses from the ward, who rushed up to her with a big hug and asked how she was. Now you can't get better staff than that can you? I really can not fault anything about Darent Valley and especially being an inpatient. Very good staff and a lovely clean and secure hospital.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a glowing review on Darent Valley Hospital. Reading that you could not fault anything is wonderful praise indeed, especially that you found the staff good, the environment clean and felt secure is very reassuring. Those involved in your mothers care have been informed of your feedback and we do hope your mother has now fully recovered.
