Anything else?
My mother had to be rushed into hospital to have a small growth removed near the neck of her womb. She was bleeding from afternoon and I eventually persuaded her to go to hospital, she was very frightened to go to hospital. We were seen quickly and put in a private room in A&E. We were transferred to a same sex ward early morning. We were put into a very nice private room and the staff were very helpful, so polite and friendly and we were offered breakfast. I was not the patient but had been awake all night and helped my mum all night and was offered breakfast too, which was so very welcome as I was so tired and hungry but my mum was quite scared and did not want me to leave her. We were seen by a doctor and she had surgery the next day and transferred to a lovely small quiet ward with lots of staff always about to help if needed. My mum said she would not mind coming back into hospital again as it was a nice experience, even the food was very good. The only comment I would make is that if you are admitted into A&E with a Gynaecological problem, just wish a women doctor could do any initial examinations. My mum had to go back as an outpatient a couple of weeks after being discharged and in the reception saw one of the nurses from the ward, who rushed up to her with a big hug and asked how she was. Now you can't get better staff than that can you? I really can not fault anything about Darent Valley and especially being an inpatient. Very good staff and a lovely clean and secure hospital.
