"Acute heart attack of 78 year old"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

Anything else?

He was resucitated 3 times and fought bravely, but after a prolongued stay in hospital, was just too weak to climb the last peak. I was not a relative, just a carer, concerned neighbour and more importantly a friend. I expected this to cause great problems as although the deceased considered me next of kin, I obviously was not, I was the next best thing and all he had. The staff could not of been any better, they showed great tenderness and profesionalism at all times, they bent over backwards to assist me through what was a very scarey time, that coffee and biscuit was the only thing I had eaten all day, but had not had time to think.

I was advised that they were going to have to do futher work on him and it may take longer than expected, I had my own medication to consider so agreed to whizz home as long as they called if there was any chance. The left it 45 minuites as they thought I would of been driving, I had staying in Worcester to eat and explained that I would be back within 5 minuites. They were both kind compasionate, no question was too much bother to answer, they made a difficult time bearable and his last moments comfortable and dignified.

I cannot praise the staff of the Grange Kidderminster, ambulance crew, emergency paramedic, resus and ICU staff enough, they never gave up on him while he was fighting, he was given the best chance of survival. When the last peak became too much they provided all the assets for a peaceful and dignified end, its the way I myself would like to go, thank you all so very much, Jo
