I had a hysterectomy last year at Alexandra hospital in cheadle private. a year on I now have problems due to leaving in my ovaries. my gp referred me to Salford royal so I could see the same surgeon again as we are no longer private. I never got to see him saw locums and trainee consultants after a ultrasound it showed ovarian cysts and was told to go home take plenty of pain killers come back when in more pain I was v upset went. Back to gp being referred to another hospital I also turned up for appointments twice and both were a waste of time. First with a locum second with a trainee and both unfamiliar with my case. v disappointed

I am sorry to read that you were dissatisfied with your recent visit here. Salford Royal is a training hospital and as such care is provided by doctors across the spectrum of seniority. Although a patient is referred to a named consultant who is responsible for their care here, the patient can commonly be seen by one of the doctors in the consultant's team. In an outpatient setting, this is commonly senior specilaist trainees (more commonly known previously as registrars) and staff grade doctors. These doctors are qualified and competent to deliver this care and the consultant is involved with the oversight of decisions that are made.

Regarding management of ovarian cysts, it is common for these to be managed conservatively depending on the findings of investigations such as ultrasound, which appears from your description to be the suggested treatment plan. Cysts can disappear themselves without any treatment in due course; however, if problems persist and symptoms worsen, the doctor may recommend surgical intervention.
