"Reduction of my dislocated hip"

About: Basildon University Hospital

Anything else?

Last saturday I dislocated my new Hip replacement. The pain was excruciating beyond description. The ambulance crew gave me good care and pain relief and this continued when I was handed over to the staff in AE.

The nursing staff organised for e to go directly for Xray - once the dislocation was diagnosed the AE Consultant came and explained exactly what he wanted to do and ensured that I was happy with his plan. His manner was a perfect mix of professionalism and humour.

He successfully relocated my hip under sedation and then the nursing staff took really good care of me until I was able to come home. Even making me toast as the available sandwiches looked so unappetising!!

The dislocation was undoubtedly the worse event of my life but the personal care I received in Basildon AE department truly helped. Thank you all.
