"A waste of your time & mine"

Referred by GP for a non urgent matter.

Complied with all the REF number, Password, bean counter nonsense and fixed an appointment.

Turned up for appointment 10mins early and sat down.

After an hour my bum had gone to sleep and I had to be somewhere else so checked out with Reception and legged it. Later, phoned the number shown on the pile of paperwork to be told I'll have to see my GP for another referral.

Now perhaps I should have asked the significance of a White Board that announced a 30min delay later amended to a 90mins delay. After I left perhaps it went to a 3hr delay. Could have? Perhaps the Consultant was called away, perhaps he had a stack of urgent cases before seeing me, perhaps he was having a lovely game of golf in the beautiful Spring sunshine. Who knows?

When I "checked out" the kind Receptionist did try to give me an estimate of when I'd probably be seen that day but I really had to be somewhere else & I figured if I dropped out of the waiting area some other poor soul would see the Consultant quicker. Or not.

I'm sure everyone is doing their very best. Ah well, might try this again another day. Might have to.
