We hear much in the media and from politicians bashing the nursing profession, that they are not trained to give proper care and don't have compassion any more.
I spent three days on Tilgate respiratory ward. Many patients were much sicker than me, needed everything done for them and not in a position to know what was happening to them.
I observed exemplary nursing care, at all times of day and night. Painstaking compassion and highly skilled nursing and clinical interventions. Some patients had crises, which received rapid and expert responses, never chaotic. The impression was of highly thoughtful and professional teams.
"Highly thoughtful and professional teams."
