While recently I spent a fair amount of time at Ridge Lea (Lancaster Unit) I found the support I was given and care I received was of great quality. Whilst I can't say hospital is a nice place to be I was made to feel as comfortable as possible.
On admission I felt wary and disorientated not only because I was unwell but also because I wasn't aware of the area, with being from Blackpool. I was eager to return to my area but I soon became aware this hospital was a better option for myself.
I can honestly say I have been able to turn a negative of my life into a positive. I have learnt skills for life which I'm hopeful will prevent relapse.
Prior to my Ridge Lea admission I spent six weeks in another North West hospital which I found little benefit, whereas Ridge Lea I haven't come out 100 per cent I know I'm on the right track. This is what I expected and hoped for from admission.
From nurses, support workers, psychologist, psychiatrist and housekeepers I feel all have aided my recovery and I'm very grateful for this. My only slight criticism is that OT could be more varied such as weekends, walks etc. Other than this they are also good at what they do.
Many thanks for everyone for saving my life and helping me to be me again.
