My son had been taken ill at nursery and I decided to bring him in to Russells Hall Hospital A and E as it was the closest emergency department. I am glad I did as we did not have to wait long to be traiged in the paediatric accident and emergency.

As we went into the cubicle, my son was violently sick and covered the both of us. The nurse helped me clean myself up and provided my son with a gown. As we were waiting in the waiting area to be seen by the doctor, my son became very thirsty and the nursing staff were more than happy to top up his juice even though this was several times. I was made to feel at ease and that my son was in safe hands.

They wanted to observe him further so they transferred him up to the PAU were he had some observations done straight away and the doctor also came to see him soon after. They were happy with his improvement and said that they could discharge him but that I would have 24 open access to bring him straight back if he had any deterioration in his health.

The PAU team were also very good and made me feel at ease and dealt with my son in a manner that was age appropriate which I'm sure helped him fell more relaxed too.

I am very happy with the treatment of my son at Russells Hall Hospital.

We know that it can be very traumatic as a parent when your child becomes ill enough to be taken to hospital, so we are very pleased that we were able to make you feel comfortable about your son’s care and put both you and your son at ease.

Our team in the Accident and Emergency department work very hard and I am sure they will be delighted to hear your praise.
