My father in law was admitted by ambulance, 999, he is 84. Great care given, everywhere was clean, he was given the appropriate tests and treatment. A and E was fairly busy and there appeared to be many agency nurses but staff were very pleasant. My father in law was then moved to emergency admissions as there were no beds on the medical ward. The only downside to his stay was that he was moved at 12.30am to another ward as the next lot of patients needed to move onto the admissions ward. Whilst we are grateful that someone else was probably moved to get my father in law into a bed, it really is not acceptable to keep moving patients late at night and especially when they are elderly. You need MORE BEDS!! A patient should be admitted to the appropriate area/ward and stay there so that a relationship can be built up between nurse and patient.
