Anything else?
Another awful 2 days in EAU with my daughter. If you ever want to find evidence of a lack of compassion in the NHS please visit EAU. Do nurses and doctors not realise that patients in hospital might be frightened or need a little reassurance? Surly faces, no communication, only doing what they have to do - feeding, putting up a drip, giving medication etc. A kind word, a smile, eye contact and a couple of lines of conversation while you are attending to a patient would make this a more humanising experience. Staff seem to be fed up, exhausted and depressed. Where is the kindness, the warmth? If you don't feel compassion for others or have great patience you have no business being a doctor or a nurse. The toilets were really unhygienic I never saw anyone clean them. Every time my daughter needed to use the toilet I cleaned it myself as there was urine all over it and once excrement on the seat. Surely an emergency area should be constantly cleaned? There are lots of elderly people, very sick people and people with diarrhoea and vomiting and other contagious diseases.
