About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

I cannot see the point in my GP having to send my details through TRAQs, to then be sent to the department of NHS I need to use who then send me an appointment. Surely if my GP had sent my details 'straight to department I need', the further 2 weeks I've had to wait going through TRAQs would be eliminated.

Another "waste" of NHS money that could be spent better elsewhere.

Fancy letters and leaflets that extend my appointment time by two weeks. Complete nonsense.

Thank you for you feedback. I am disappointed to read your negative comments. TRAQS aims to contact all patients within 5 working days. However, not all referrals arrive as quickly from the practice as patients expect them to. This timeframe depends upon the internal processes within the practice.

To give some background. TRAQS began 1 year ago at the instigation of Telford and Wrekin CCG and deal with all referrals for first outpatient appointments made by all GPs within the Telford and Wrekin area. TRAQS offers a Choice of Provider to all patients in line with the NHS Choice Agenda and the Patients Charter.

Prior to TRAQS patients were not consistently offered Choice, TRAQS ensures that all patients are able to exercise their right to a Choice of Provider and do not have to wait weeks or maybe months to be seen at their local hospital if they're willing to travel further for a sooner appointment. Alternatively, they may ask to be seen by a specific consultant at a specific hospital. TRAQS allows the patient to make an informed decision regsrding their healthcare.
