"Lumpectomy: waiting two hours past my appointment time"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Day surgery

(as the patient),

There was a very high standard of care at the New Victoria Hospital - it cannot be faulted. Staff (all) dealt with me in a very caring way and I felt this was reassuring.

On the appointment side - the downside was waiting two hours past my appointment time.

One other point was if I had been given my op time, to attend at 7: 30am and then received a letter telling me to attend for the lymph node tests at 10: 30 with no mention that I had to still attend at 7: 30.

I phoned the breast care nurse with this enquiry as it was not clear. This also happened to another lady and unlike me she did not turn up untill the later time.

This meant that other people's operation times were rearranged,

This matter should be addressed as it is costly to the health service.

Response from Paul Cannon, Head of Administration, Acute Services Division, Greater Glasgow & Clyde NHS

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide your very kind feedback.

I will ensure that this is passed on to those involved and I am sure that they will be very pleased to read your comments.

I am sorry that this posting was not acknowledged at the time, we had a break in our use of Patient Opinion, but we have now resumed doing so, and I thought it was still important to acknowledge your posting and where appropriate to pass comments on.

I am also sorry that there were some potential communication issues which didn't come to pass only because of your diligence and I will pass these comments on to Head of Medical Records at the hospital to see what can be done to improve this aspect of the appointment process.

Once again, thank you for using the Patient Opinion feedback system, it is greatly appreciated.
